Thymalin.

Thymus peptide for immune and longevity

How it works

Class & mechanism.

Class

Thymic Peptide Bioregulator Complex

Mechanism

Thymalin is a polypeptide complex of short-chain peptides (2–8 amino acids) extracted from the thymus glands of young calves, originally classified as a 'cytomedin' — a class of tissue-specific peptide bioregulators that regulate DNA transcription and cellular differentiation by penetrating target cell nuclei. It primarily acts on the thymus-immune axis: it restores T-lymphocyte differentiation and proliferation by binding thymocyte membrane receptors and activating intracellular signaling cascades, corrects the T/B lymphocyte ratio disrupted by aging-related thymic involution, enhances natural killer (NK) cell activity, normalizes cytokine balance, and stimulates hematopoiesis. At the gene expression level, Thymalin influences genes involved in cell proliferation, DNA repair, and apoptosis regulation, effectively reprogramming immune cells toward a younger functional phenotype.

Did you know

When Thymalin was combined with Epitalon and given annually for 6 consecutive years to elderly patients, all-cause mortality dropped 4.1-fold — meaning for every 4 deaths in the control group, only 1 occurred in the treated group. No pharmaceutical drug has come close to this number in a human aging trial.

Benefits

What it does.

01

Immune restoration and T-cell renewal — restores T-lymphocyte differentiation, normalizes T/B cell ratios, and corrects immunosenescence caused by thymic involution; reduced acute respiratory disease incidence 2.0–2.4-fold in the landmark clinical trial

02

All-cause and cardiovascular mortality reduction — the only therapeutic peptide with human clinical data showing 2.0–2.1-fold reduction in all-cause mortality and significant cardiovascular mortality reduction in elderly patients

03

Reduced incidence of age-related diseases — clinical trial patients showed reduced rates of ischemic heart disease, hypertension, osteoarthritis, and osteoporosis versus untreated controls over 6–8 years

04

Cytokine storm modulation — adjunct Thymalin use in severe COVID-19 elderly patients suppressed hyperinflammatory gene expression signatures associated with cytokine storm pathology

Thymalin

In the longest human clinical trial ever conducted on a therapeutic peptide, 266 elderly patients (age 60+) followed for 6–8 years at two independent Russian and Ukrainian gerontological institutes showed 2.0–2.1-fold mortality reduction with Thymalin alone; combined annual Thymalin + Epithalamin treatment for 6 years achieved a 4.1-fold mortality reduction vs controls

Thymalin

Thymalin treatment in organotypic spleen tissue cultures increased tissue growth zone indices by 20–50%, stimulated lymphocyte proliferation, and reduced apoptosis by 29–42% — providing in vitro mechanistic evidence for its immunoregeneration effects

Thymalin

In the 266-patient trial, Thymalin-treated patients showed a 2.0–2.4-fold decrease in acute respiratory disease incidence, significant reduction in cardiovascular, endocrine, immune, and nervous system dysfunction markers, and normalized homeostasis and metabolism versus untreated controls

Thymalin

Adjunct Thymalin in elderly severe COVID-19 patients suppressed cytokine storm gene expression patterns and reduced the hyperinflammatory response associated with high mortality in this population — suggesting real-time immune modulation capability

Protocol

How to use it.

Dosing

5–10 mg/day via intramuscular or subcutaneous injection for 5–10 consecutive days per course. Standard clinical protocol used in Russian trials: 10 mg/day × 10 days, 1–4 cycles per year depending on age, health status, and immune condition.

Cycle

1–4 cycles per year; most longevity protocols use 1–2 annual courses. The landmark 6-year trial used annual combined Thymalin + Epithalamin cycles for maximum mortality reduction. Short-course design (5–10 days) with long recovery intervals is characteristic of Khavinson bioregulator protocols.

Contraindications

When to skip it.

Well-established safety profile across 35+ years of clinical use in Russia (approved as pharmaceutical drug since the 1980s). Most common adverse reactions: localized injection site redness, transient fatigue. Derived from bovine thymus — contraindicated in documented bovine protein allergy. Not approved as pharmaceutical outside Russia; research use only in most other countries. Caution with autoimmune conditions due to immune activation effects.
